Wrong-way driver causes fatal car accident that kills 4

Traveling the busy Arizona highways comes with a certain amount of risk posed by congested traffic and negligent drivers. Sadly, even the most diligent drivers cannot always avoid the dangers posed by a negligent or careless driver. Recently, four people died in a multi-vehicle car accident.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred shortly after noon along a stretch of I-10. Police had received reports of a driver traveling in the eastbound lane who crossed over the median into the westbound lane. Once there, the driver collided with an SUV. A tractor-trailer traveling in the same lane smashed into the wrecked vehicles.

That second collision resulted in three other vehicles being caught up in crashes. One of the vehicles involved in that chain reaction crash included a prison van from the Maricopa County Jail. Though four people were killed in this horrific crash, there were no further details provided regarding the victims. Though the driver and passengers in the van were transported for medical care, their injuries were not believed to be serious in nature. Both sides of the interstate were closed for hours for cleanup and the investigation.

It is unclear whether the driver believed responsible for touching off this fatal car accident survived. When these types of tragic accidents occur, victims’ lives are often irrevocably changed either by catastrophic injuries, the loss of loved ones and/or due to significant monetary damages. They may choose to seek recovery of their damages through a civil lawsuit filed against the party or parties deemed culpable for their losses.
