Tragic chain-reaction car accident kills mother, 5-year-old child

Each day, Arizona parents fasten their children into their motor vehicles and head off to handle their daily errands without any serious concerns about their safety. Sadly, with the increasing numbers of distracted drivers on the roadways, driving a car can quickly become a dangerous task. Recently, a deadly car accident has forever changed one Arizona family.

According to the Department of Public Safety report, a 34-year-old man was driving his pickup truck along State Route 51 as the traffic flow ahead of him began to slow. For reasons that are yet unclear, he reportedly failed to take corrective actions in order to avoid striking the vehicle ahead of him. His truck rear-ended the sedan that was traveling in front of him.

The impact with the pickup caused the sedan to smash into the vehicle ahead of it. That second car was driven by a 31-year-old woman who was traveling with her 5-year-old son. Both were killed in the collision. The third car was then propelled into a fourth vehicle ahead of it. The driver of that third car was transported for treatment of undisclosed injuries.

The driver who set off the chain-reaction crash was issued a citation by Arizona officials at the scene. The family who has lost their loved ones in this terrifying and preventable car accident are understandably distraught. They are likely also facing enormous financial losses and other monetary damages. When, as here, the evidence suggests a death was caused by the negligence of another, a wrongful death claim may be pursued in civil court against the party or parties deemed culpable.
